About the COPS group:
In modern science, international success is achieved through teamwork. Using the combined talents, ambitions and creativity of our team members we can tackle almost any challenge. Complex Photonic Systems (COPS) scientists are fascinated by light and perform world-class research on light propagation and spontaneous emission in complex photonic media. We combine advanced optical experiments with the development of photonic nanostructures and with a deep theoretical understanding. We have pioneered experiments wherein light emission was controlled, we were first to optically switch microcavities at the ultimate speed, and we have pioneered high-resolution focusing of light through opaque lenses. Our curiosity-driven research is of interest to industrial partners and to applications in biophysics. Our research is performed in the renowned MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, University of Twente, and we collaborate with our optical colleagues through the Strategic Research Orientation “Applied Nanophotonics” (ANP).
